Anyone out there like to play board games and card games?
Quiddler is a fun word game that has some elements of Rummy in it. To start, each player is dealt three cards with letters on them. The goal is to make a word. On your turn, you can either draw a letter from the discard pile or pick a new card. Once a player “goes down,” then the other players have one more turn before they, too, must put down their words. Points are awarded based on the letters you used. In the next round, the number of cards increase to four. The rounds continue up to 10 cards.
The other new game I learned is called SET. The dealer lays out a bunch of cards with shapes on them (four different shapes, four different types of filling, four different colors, and four different numbers of shapes on each card). All the players look at the cards and try to make a set. A set consists of three cards that are either all different or all the same in each of the four different ways. It takes a lot of concentration and brain power, but it’s really fun!

Quiddler sounds very similar to a Kidd family favorite: Five Crowns.

You try to make sets and runs and with each round you get more cards and the wild card changes. We also love a game called Wise and Otherwise, it's so fun and hilarious. Kind of like Balderdash but with funny sayings from all over the globe:

My parents own Quiddler, but I havent played it.

We just bought Quiddler not too long ago and we really like it. Kind of strange playing with just 2 people, might be fun with 4.

I played Set often in college, and then started making personalized Set games for friends with whom I played the game. So, for my friend who liked primatology, organic chemistry, and was in a band, the three shapes were an ape face, a molecule, and a guitar (instead of the oval, diamond, and squiggle). It maybe got a *little* tiring drawing these over and over again in different colors and with different fillings, but it was a great gift that could be made for any number of people! (my [now]husband got one with "I" and (heart) and "U" shapes).

Hi, AZ: You are brilliant! I think I will do just that for Matt's birthday present: Hoss, chickens, baby. I think I'll just draw each shape once and scan it into the computer in order to make each of the follow-up cards. Will you tell me the exact breakdown of how many cards to make and how many of each pattern and design? I'm so excited!

Oh my gosh!!! I love Quiddler! It combines my 2 favorite games… Scrabble and Rummy! We've had so many epic games of quiddler at our house– the fiance and I are big game people… Lately, i've been really into Euchre though…
