Boots!
Divine boots by NaotBut, as some of you may know, I’m quite picky about shoes. If I’m going to invest money in a pair of boots, they need to be good for my feet, comfortable, durable, and cute. It’s a tall order, for sure!
I went back to your recommendations for shoe brands. By the way, I appreciated your recommendations for sandals so much! I ended up wearing the ones Jessie recommended all summer long (and plan to wear them next summer, too).
I also think I’ll need to get a pair of skinny jeans to wear with them (which I have been resisting since the start of the fad–I’m really not a trendy dresser). I’m also thinking about skirts and tights.
I have no idea why I’m thinking about clothes and shoes like this. Perhaps I’ve been reading too many blogs? I don’t even have a category that this post fits into!

I've had great experiences with Frye and Born boots for both comfort and longevity. Dan Post makes great cowboy boots that are super comfy, durable and look cute.

I’ve been thinking a lot about fall clothes too! I’m planning a post it soon! I just recently got on the leggings band wagon, they’re so comfortable. I like the mid-calf leggings. For the fall I’ve been loving the look of a casual blazer with jeans look so I’m looking for the perfect blazer and I also want to find some great boots – thanks for all the lovely suggestions!

Of what you have selected, go with the Frye. I have two pairs of them, and have no desire to buy any other brand. And this is coming from someone who wears boots every day to work. They are a little pricey, but worth every stinkin' penny. Good luck!

Skinny jeans will definitely be helpful with higher boots, though I find them most comfortable over long socks with a knee-high or just above knee skirt.
I have a pair of brown boots that hit a couple inches above mid calf that I bought from Target for $50 3 years ago, and they are still going strong– and I've heard similar review from friends, so maybe have a look in the shoe department next time you're there.
My husband conditions them with oil and they literally look brand new. They're my favorite pair, and I wear them with jeans, skirts, and vintage dresses. I'm so happy boot season is back.

I love my Frye boots, I've had them for 8 years (had to resole them but they keep ticking!). I'd spent the extra cash for quality.

I have teva boots that look similar to the ones you posted. Isn't crazy how looking at blogs make one want to buy things? That's pretty much the same reason I bought boots this spring! But then again, I do wear them 50% of the time now.

I invested in a pair of Keen's Bern Baby Bern boots from REI last winter and I'm SOOOO happy with them. They are super comfortable, have enough of a heel to offer decent arch support, and look really cute either with skinny jeans/leggings/skirts or under my dress pants as regular looking work shoes.

I have adopted the legging/tunic trend this year as well! Not sure why it took me so long to get into it…it's super comfy. I have never dropped serious money on boots (I have lucked out on thrif store finds) but I hear Fryes are totally worth it.

I read your blog regularly, and this is the post I respond to… I feel a little superficial. But, I had to plug Frye. I am a teacher who is always on my feet. Additionally, being a teacher, money is always a consideration. Initially, I hesitated because of the price and because they are a lot of leather. As I am on my third year with them, I feel they were well worth the price. I imagine getting another three to four years out of them as they still look new (with a resoling, I am sure). Additionally, the fact that I haven't really had to buy any other leather shoes for the last two fall/winter seasons and won't again this year has helped me (slightly) justify the amount of leather put into them. There are very few products I would recommend with such gusto.

If you're looking for comfort, I've got to recommend Aerosoles. I just got the Mezzotint boot from 6pm.com and absolutely love them. They're a bit big in the calf (for me) but they're my go-to pair of boots now, especially with skinny jeans.

I imagine it's not quite as cold there as up here in the great white north, but… I find I really like leg warmers in cool weather. That, and if there's ever salt on the sidewalks to melt snow, you don't have to worry about wrecking nice leather boots, you just put your leg warmers in the wash.
And shoes… I added a comment to that old post – can't recommend Finn Comfort's enough for all day teaching comfort!

I would suggest watching deal sites like hautelook, ideeli, etc to get a big discount on quality items. I got a great pair of Gentle Souls by Kenneth Cole boots for a third of the $300 price tag.

I just bought these — they're last year's color and style *gasp!* for $55. I live in a much colder locale than you but these are waterproof, yucky proof workhorses. They are as comfy as you can imagine, and then a little more comfy. AND FLAT!
