PSA: Get Your Tetanus Shot
I’m grateful that I’ve been going to the same doctor for a while and she tracks my health history closely. At my last visit, she reminded me that it was time for my tetanus booster shot. Ouch!
I remember getting a tetanus shot when I was five years-old. I had it in the morning and then went back to kindergarten. I remember trying to raise my arms while singing songs with the class and how much it hurt!
When I got the shot, the doctor said, “Don’t worry; you won’t have to have another one until you are ten years-old.” I literally spent the next five years worrying about that shot! I would look for children who seemed to be about ten years-old on the playground and wonder if maybe it wouldn’t hurt so much once I was that big. Anxiety much?
Then I didn’t need one until I was twenty. Then thirty. And now I’m 41, so I guess I’m a little behind!
Right after I got my shot, I read this article about why tetanus shots are so important. They explain that you can get tetanus from way more commonplace occurrences than stepping on rusty nails. I’m glad my family and I are vaccinated!

What does PSA in the title stands for? Is this a sponsored post?

Hi, Tina! Not, it’s not a sponsored post. It was just a [bad] joke. It’s stands for Public Service Announcement.

Oh, ok. 🙂 I haven’t seen that acronym before.
