Family Camping: Our Most Recent Trip
We had so much fun on our recent family camping trip. There was no time to take photos! This trip was the Spring campout through our school. We have a trip in the Fall and a trip in the Spring. The photo above is from our camping trip to the same location last year.
We headed out for Pedernales Falls State Park on Saturday morning. When we arrived, we set up camp right next to good friends of ours. Our giant pop-up tent continues to be amazing.
While we did remember the tent, we forgot several other key items. Such items include: bathing suits for the boys, a change of clothes for the boys, or even sleeping bags for the boys. #parentsoftheyearaward
I find it particularly amusing that we use an app to help us remember our camping gear list. But, alas, we failed pretty miserably.
In the end, it didn’t matter at all. Our boys swam in their pants, ran around in the sun until those pants dried, wore those same pants the next day, and slept in the “emergency blankets” from a mom who is apparently way more prepared than I am.
My highlights from the trip:
- Our Saturday night family potluck (the families at our school are such good cooks!)
- Sitting in my chair on a rock in the middle of the river while talking with a friend and watching our kids swim
- Surprising Henry with cake and friends in the tent to celebrate his birthday
- Talking with friends and new folks around the campfire
- A Saturday night sing-a-long
- Playing with one of my favorite babies
- French braiding the hair of one of our dear friends’ children
My heart is full! If we do pull off a Family Gap Year, I’m sure going to miss these campouts for a year!
