Book Recommendations: What Are You Reading?
What do you have more of in your life now that we are sheltering in place? Since I’m introverted, my life honestly isn’t much different. I like spending large amounts of time at home. When we do go out during non-sheltering-in-place times, we tend to do calmer, quieter things like eat tacos at a park, hike, swim in a lake/creek, etc. We only have one activity in our kids’ lives (scouts). I do find that I’m baking a little more. And I’m always trying to read more. Are you reading anything good right now? Do you have any book recommendations?
I’m currently reading How to Walk Away. I’m only a couple of pages in, but I’m looking forward to reading more! It seems like a light and easy read.
I recently finished How to Be a Family: The Year I Dragged My Kids Around the World to Find a New Way to Be Together. I definitely enjoyed reading it—even though our Family Gap Year is on hold.
I started reading The Wellness Project: How I learned to Do Right by My Body, Without Giving Up My Life. I only read about a third of it, but I did enjoy the parts I read. It inspired me to make sure I get back to 100% healthy beauty products.
What are you up to these days? I started making masks by following the CDC pattern, but it was a total bust. Only 6″ of elastic was way too short.
Can’t wait to hear from you!

Hey Sara! I read that book last summer & enjoyed it. Katherine Center books always draw me in and make me smile.
For masks, I went through several patterns (including the CDC one) before settling on this one: https://www.sewcanshe.com/blog/simple-step-by-step-tutorial-for-the-olson-mask-pattern It might be worth a try! I like that it has pattern sizes already made to work for kids & the video is easy to follow.

Thank you for the suggestion, Michelle! I cut 11 masks and all the elastic for the CDC pattern before realizing it doesn’t work well with only 6 inches of elastic 🙁 I salvaged one of them by tying straps onto it.
I put a couple of her other books on my library hold list. Looking forward to it!
