Favorite Game with Kids: What We Are Loving
Joanna recently recommended what has become our new favorite game with kids! It’s called Too Many Monkeys. I find that it’s the right blend of critical thinking + sheer luck for my children’s ages. They are 9 and 7 years-old.
Well, the game doesn’t involve that much critical thinking. But you do have a choice about whether to take the card from the discard pile or from the face-down stack. And there are several things to remember, such as what the elephant card means, what the “my name is” card means, what to do if you draw a raccoon, and who has how many piles and who gets to go first. The rest is luck.
I have a hard time engaging Henry in board games with me. He will play Monopoly or Life from time to time, but it’s not an activity he gravitates toward. Tate, on the other hand, really enjoys playing Go Town with me.
Too Many Monkeys is a hit with both boys! It’s nice to find an indoor activity that we enjoy together. Standup paddle boarding is a hit with our whole family, but winter will be here before we know it!
Do you have a new favorite game with kids?
