New Year’s Resolutions: 2021, Here We Come!

New Year's Resolutions

The truth is I’m not feeling particularly inspired by my new year’s resolutions this year. To me, they sort of sound like an uninteresting laundry list of things.

And—YET!—I am so excited and inspired as we head into 2021 for several reasons:

  1. I’m shifting my mindset. I am going to stop my 2020-tendency of focusing on what I can’t do because of COVID. Instead, I want to focus on all the things I still can do, despite the situation. (Because, let’s be honest. Thursday, December 31, 2020 is not all that different from Friday, January 1, 2021.)
  2. As I focus on the things I can do, I’m going to head into the year with more fluidity about how the year unfolds. For example, I’m not planning any big travel in 2021. (I don’t want to be disappointed if the vaccine roll-out is a total cluster*!$& and nothing really changes for the entire year). But if the New Zealand borders happen to open up some time in 2021, well, then, my intentions might just have to shift!
  3. I’ve put a new mechanism into my life that will give me even more opportunity to live in relationship with my goals and bring more novelty and progress into my life. (Spoiler Alert: It’s a podcast, which I imagine you are getting sick of hearing about at this point!)
  4. In addition to giving me a more fluid accountability and motivation platform, the podcast already seems to be helping me develop one of my weakest areas right now: Personal Growth & Development. I’ve already ready one and a half books as I gear up for future podcast episodes. It’s really energizing to me.

If you want to hear the actual laundry list of my New Year’s resolutions, you can check out the podcast tomorrow! It’s called Sow Connected and you should be able to find it wherever you normally download podcasts.

Have you set resolutions or intentions for the new year? And/or did you pick a word to embody your year? I would love to hear from you!
