Stress Reduction Hack: Using Bookmarks
If you’re anything like me, you find it stressful to have a zillion tabs open on your browser. And if you’re like me, you always have a zillion tabs open anyway because you want to have your pages right at your fingertips. Enter my new stress reduction hack.
I started bookmarking my most frequently referenced pages and documents so I can close something when I’m not immediately using it but quickly open it back up when I want to use it.
I always keep two separate internet browsers running at a time. I use Chrome for my personal gmail account and Firefox for my professional gmail account.
That way, I don’t have to toggle between two different accounts within the same browser. Also, I’m able to have two separate sets of bookmarks.
I frequently change out my bookmarks, based on what is most important to me at the time. Also, I try to keep the bookmark names as short as possible to create as much space as possible.
Right now, the links from my personal account include a link to a live meditation music sound track, my journal, my blog, Instagram, notes for one of my child’s doctors, etc.
My professional bookmarks include documents I use more than once a week. That way, the only taps I have to leave open are my email, my drive, and my calendar.
Gone are the days of scrolling and scrolling across my tab bar!
I wouldn’t be surprised if you all have been using this stress reduction hack for a decade or more. But I had to share it in case you haven’t tried it out yet. It’s too good to pass up!

In Chrome I’ve been using Groups to organize my many tabs. Works well for related tabs like when you are searching for a product or vacation planning. Just right click the tab to create a group or add a tab to a group. Click on the group to open or close it. So much less visual clutter!
