Staycation: A Good Time for All
In my most recent newsletter, I mentioned that we were heading to the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch for Spring Break in Colorado. And then a Snowpocalypse threatened the area and we had to cancel our plans at the last-minute. I put in a valiant effort to find an AirBnB somewhere else (South Padre Island, Galveston, Wimberley, rural Louisiana, Arkansas, etc.). But in the end we opted for a Staycation.
I went back to my own advice about how to plan a meaningful and memorable Staycation.
Our Staycation Week
- We decided to stock up on junk food that we don’t normally eat. Doritos. Ruffles with onion dip. Pringles. Candy. Fanta.

Hipcamp.com: Have you given it a try yet?
We were really up a creek when bad weather forced us to cancel Henry’s birthday party a couple weekends ago. I had booked the camping site six months in advance! Luckily, I found a back-up site the week before. But then the back-up site got canceled because of damage from storm Uri. With only two days notice, I needed a solution fast. Thankfully, hipcamp.com came to the rescue.
Hipcamp.com is like AirBnB for camping. You can use it for tent camping, glamping, treehouses, cabins, places to park your RV, etc.
With only two days notice, I was able to book a camping spot for four families. Phew!

Moments of Authenticity: Trying to Collect Them
When I was in my twenties, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I was really eager to figure it out! It occurred to me that I should collect “moments of authenticity” as if they were the most beautiful butterfly specimens. My thinking went: if I collect and save each small moment that really resonates with me, I might be able to find patterns. Then I can intentionally build the kind of life I want for myself.
