Camping Birthday Party: Reducing COVID Risks
Well, we are celebrating our final birthday during COVID! Tate’s birthday was first (outdoor movie in our cul-de-sac). Then Matt’s. Then mine. Now we are finally at Henry’s birthday. Last year, his slumber party birthday was pretty much right before the lockdown. This year, we are opting for a camping birthday party.
The infectious disease expert that we consult with for the school continues to say that the COVID transmission risk is low in an outdoor setting. Therefore, camping seems like an okay option. Summer Vacation: Making Plans Now
The other day, I was working through my monthly planning process. I realized I’m supposed to be planning Fall Break this month. What?!? I haven’t even started planning our Summer Vacation yet!
Every year, I have two weeks off for Summer Vacation. Then I try to save up all of my sick days (I get six a year), so I have another week off. As I type all of that out, I’m realizing I won’t be able to take off three consecutive weeks this year. We are onboarding a new principal. I’m happy about bringing on a new principal, but that sucks for my vacation!

Happy 10th Birthday, Henry!
Happy 10th Birthday, Dearest Henry!
You launched your 9th year with an awesome slumber party. The next day we flew to Los Angeles for Spring Break. And a couple weeks later, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States. Life as we knew it changed pretty dramatically.
We had to cancel our Around-the-World trip. In its place, we headed to Indiana and Michigan for summer vacation. We also traveled to New Braunfels for Fall Break and San Diego and Oceanside for Winter Break. We did road trips for everything and spent as much time as possible outside.
