    Finding affordable accommodations in Hawai’i is no joke!

    We found a fairly affordable place in Oahu, but it wasn’t the greatest. The kitchen was tiny, there were lots of steps up and down throughout the house, and one of the boys had to sleep on the couch each night (not a pull-out). I did love living in a residential area.     Family Gap Year Post #21: Hawaiian Island Hopping—Our Family Dynamic (July, Part 2)

    Today I’m going to reflect on what our Family Dynamic was like during our month of island hopping around Hawai’i. Spending more time together (and hopefully growing closer) as a family is one of the primary reasons we wanted to go on a Family Gap Year.

    Family Gap Year Post #20: Hawaiian Island Hopping—Our Adventures (July, Part 1)

    In retrospect, I would not have planned two full months of on-the-road travel back-to-back. I would have especially not planned two full months of on-the-road travel through expensive areas!

    But it feels silly complaining about the opportunity to spend all of July traveling through the Hawaiian Islands. The truth is I feel very grateful for the opportunity. And on a scale from 1-10, I give our month a 9 out of 10.
