Vacationing with Kids in Michigan
With COVID wreaking havoc in the United States (well, it’s really governmental incompetence that is wreaking havoc—right?), we had to rethink how we would normally do summer vacation. We opted for vacationing with kids in Michigan.
On Day 1, we spent the whole day driving to Indiana. My personal opinion is that there are really only two ways to do a long road trip with kids:
- Drive the whole thing in one day, no matter how many hours it is.
- Drive 3-4 hours every morning and spend the afternoon exploring a different spot.

Los Angeles with Kids: Our Recent Adventure
We returned from our Spring Break trip last Friday, so I wanted to share a little bit about visiting Los Angeles with kids. At the start of the week, it seemed fine to be out and traveling even with coronavirus going on. I was reading information about the relatively low risk to younger, healthier people and about the power of hand washing. A Long Weekend in San Diego: Fun, Fun!
Recently, we had the chance to spend a long weekend in San Diego. Matt’s mom stays out there each winter and invited us to stay with her. Matt’s dad also flew in for the weekend, and his brother drove down from Los Angeles.
We found great tickets flying out of Austin around 5pm on Friday after school/work. The price was so great that one of Tate’s classmate and her family were also on the same flight for a long-weekend getaway.
