I can’t remember ever earning free airline credit. I’m always too eager to get home to forfeit my seat. But earlier this year, we had an opportunity too good to pass up.

We were flying home from my first ever cruise. The airlines asked for people to give up their spots for $250. We were not interested. Home was calling! Then it got up to $500.
