    Toddler Board Game Recommendation

    Henry received a cooperative board game for his birthday last year, called Seeds for the Birds. We tried to play it once several months ago, but he wasn’t ready for it. We pulled it out again the other day, and we had a blast. We played it two times through (and then he wanted to play it again!). 
    He doesn’t completely get it yet, but it still feels like a fun and productive use of time. He gets to practice following directions, sequencing, facing frustration (when the squirrel gets the nuts!), and delaying gratification (“It’s my turn right now, Henry.”).     Halloween!

    The pumpkins are upon us! As a side note, Henry is still obsessed with pumpkins. He has been since he was eight months-old. Every trip to the grocery store turns into a discussion about how we’re going to wait until October to buy pumpkins. 

    I’m so excited that Henry is finally at the age where we can pick his own Halloween costume. The first year of his life we dressed him up like his favorite thing in the world: Hoss.     Anniversary Traditions

     
    I love how traditions create a rhythm to the year.
     
    Matt and I celebrated our 5th anniversary on Friday (half a decade!), and we’re still implementing the tradition we started on our 1st anniversary. Every year, we take turns–one person writes a letter to the other person about our year together, and the other person plans an experience.
     
    We opted for a ritual devoid of presents because, frankly, we already feel enough pressure to buy each other creative and interesting presents year after year for birthdays and Christmases.
     
    This year, it was my turn to plan the experience. Before Tate’s arrival, I spent some time brainstorming ideas.
