    Spring Break Planning

    Spring Break 2010 (2011 was spent with a 3-week old in a complete daze)

    Yes, I realize it’s not even Halloween yet and spring break is a long, long time away. But here I am planning spring break for several reasons:
    1. Planning brings me an immense amount of enjoyment. The earlier I start planning a trip, the more I stretch out my enjoyment. Weird, I know.
    2. Some things book up quickly. Like cabins at National Parks and such.
    3. I needed something to write about today.

    So, spring break. Thinking about it makes me a little anxious, since I was just fiddling with our dwindling finances. Our vacation fund has $2.63,

    A kindred spirit joined the Feeding the Soil community and started talking about her plans for a homemade Christmas. I loved the post very much (and was inspired by her ideas), but it made me realize, “Eek! I need to get the planning ball rolling for Halloween and Thanksgiving before I can start thinking about Christmas.”

    Last year, I was pregnant at this time and actively trying to keep my stress at bay. I started thinking about Halloween in August and Christmas in October, as a way to spread out my planning and work, since Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas come so close together.

    Our Vacation Recap in Pictures (and a Few Words)

    A breast-feeding stop on the way from Taos, NM to Denver, CO. Sadly, we spent a whole weekend at our friend’s awesome wedding in Taos and didn’t manage to take a picture with our big camera.


    Henry visiting with the owners of Sunshine Mountain Lodge outside of Estes Park. This was the reception site for our wedding three years ago. Again, we neglected to take photos of our pit-stop in Denver to see old friends and to check out their “new” house from 1895.

    They made us delicious raw breakfast every day. I’m inspired to eat healthier breakfasts! Can you tell that Henry is eager to try solids?
