My new system of keeping a special container of books right by my bed is working! It has helped me fit in more books about gender identity and expression with my children. I decided it was time to add additional picture books about social justice.

How White Privilege Works: A Critique of Time Magazine
Image courtesy of Time Magazine I read Time Magazine article: “I Raised Two CEOs and a Doctor. These Are My Secrets to Parenting Successful Children.” because I love parenting articles. I appreciated the author’s emphasis on the concepts of trust, respect, independence, collaboration, and kindness. Some of the anecdotes remind me of what I try to do in our Montessori home. However, I have not been able to stop thinking about how the author made no mention of the role that white privilege plays in our lives.
