Nursing Bra Recommendation

This is not a picture of me, obviously

I was going to title this post “Best Nursing Bra Ever,” to go along with my posts about the best chocolate chip cookies ever and the best spaghetti ever, but I figured you all would start to get annoyed with me.

And rightfully so.

But the Bravado! Body Silk Seamless Nursing Soft Cup Bra is amazing.

Don’t get me wrong; I didn’t want to go the route of expensive nursing bras when I first started out. In fact, I headed straight to Target. Even though people warned me that Target nursing bras would not hold their weight (literally and figuratively), I opted for an inexpensive nursing bra anyway. I’m stubbornly frugal like that.

But then my breasts kept falling out (sorry for the mental movie). Seriously. Every time I would lie on my side to feed Henry on the bottom breast, the top breast would pop out.

So I ventured to Nurtured Family to buy a proper nursing bra. I was a little overwhelmed by all the options, so I simply said, “I would like something that doesn’t have underwire, has padding so the outlines of my breast pads don’t show through, and is comfortable.” The sales associate gave me their most popular bra to try on. I was immediately sold! It’s so comfortable and supportive. The padding is removable if you want. And the color selection is good.

I only bought one because they’re expensive and I wanted to try it out before buying more. Finally, Matt got on my case enough times about wearing the same bra over and over (an even grosser mental movie!), so I broke down and bought two more.

Happiness!

I clicked on this post and was like, "Whatever she says, I'm going to add the Bravado silk seamless nursing bra after having wasted money at Target and Motherhood and Maternity." 😀

I LOVE the target nursing tanks so I am surprised you don't. My issue with BF in public is showing belly skin so the nursing tank (with a t-shirt over) is great. I can also discreetly feed in the moby wrap by pulling up the tee and unhooking the tank.

I do have a large chest (pre-baby it was a 38D) and the large size tanks are long and hold my boobs in well.

The downside to the tank is the somewhat lack of support. I don't feel it but I do notice it. It's not obvious since there's no jiggling but they are not as upright. However, at this point I do a ton of baby wearing so it's even less noticeable.

I also like an $11 seamless nursing bra from walmart — my guess is it's made by Champion. It's the best bra I bought for nursing. I hate the medela nursing bras and I despise any motherhood maternity bras.

Hi, Annalisa! I really, really want to like nursing tanks for all the reasons you explained. I don't like my stomach showing when I nurse in public either. But I have never found one I like (and I've tried a lot because friends keep giving me their hand-me-downs). I feel like they let me sag too much, it's so hot right now, I really don't want to wear more than one layer, and I've never liked the way the inside sits on my breasts. For example, the ones that have the circles contort my breasts in really weird ways. But I'm so glad you found ones that work for you!

For the past couple of years I have been in the mentality of buying clothes and other materials things that are better quality (and so usually more expensive) that will last me longer than less expensive versions. It does make such a difference when something fits WELL, I'm sure that's especially the case for something like a nursing bra!

I wanted to mention that my Target now has Bravado nursing tanks and bras. I assume it is a made for Target kind of line – it was $20 something. I talked to a team member and they said it may be a test market product (i.e. not at all targets yet). I have the bra and it is very nice, very supportive and feels really good. Normally I just use target's regular nursing tanks though for the same reason as Annalisa. I wish they were little more supportive, but they work.

I find that with bras I've always gotten what I've paid for so I'm willing to spend a bit more for better quality and longevity. It's no surprise that good nursing bras cost a bit more.

I LOVE the glamourmom tank bras! (I have kind of lived in them for 6 years!) I imagine it might be really hot to wear them, though, in Texax. But I can do them fine in IL summers. I like my belly covered, too, and it just makes me (personally) more confident to bf anywhere. I'm also not very busty, so they provide enough support for me. I think they are really well made. I have read SO many great reviews of the Bravado bra you recommend, and would probably get one if I wasn't so attached to the tank bras!!
