Gluten-Free Fruit Crumble Bars: Our New Recipe

I haven’t really enjoyed baking or cooking for many years. Looking back on it, I think my aversion toward it correlates with adding children into our family. There were just a lot of things that became difficult to maintain (like cleaning our house every week). Baking and cooking for fun fell lower and lower down the list. Making these gluten-free fruit crumble bars marks a slow shift in my life. I actually enjoyed making it!

The shift actually started during our last vacation. We were on Catalina Island and we walked to the grocery store to pick up food. Then I spent an hour or so making food for a picnic lunch.

Now that I reflect on it, it wasn’t just adding children. I also built a house and launched a national non-profit organization all at the same time.

Regardless of the reason, I’m excited that our lives have a little more breathing room now for the little things like picnic lunches and homemade desserts.
