Washable Rugs: A Few of My Favorites

washable rugs

So far (knock on wood), we are on track to close on our vacation home at the end of April. I started shopping for durable rugs. My new go-to source for washable rugs is Ruggable. I love the ability to easily machine wash a rug.

We currently own four Ruggable rugs, and I’ve been happy with them.

Here is the next set of rugs I am eyeing for the new house:

I’m trying to find the right balance between “light and airy” and “not easily stainable.” Our goal is to fill up our vacation house with eight people at a time. (We will be bringing family friends with us.) And we want the experience to feel really laid back and relaxed.

And when we aren’t using it, we will rent it out. So we want the decor to be able to stand up to a lot of traffic and use. Hooray for washable rugs!

I’m honestly feeling pretty overwhelmed by the prospect of designing every room from scratch. I can’t remember every doing that? Maybe my college dorm room? But that was the tiniest room, and I only had jurisdiction over half of it! I’m researching relatively inexpensive options for online interior design. My biggest worry is that they are going to suggest expensive furniture. I’m looking for IKEA, Target, Wayfair, and vintage!

Sara! I commend you in all the work your putting into your vacation rental. Been following you a long time! I work in the vacation rental industry in NW Florida along 30A and just wanted to let you know that if you have any questions or need to bounce any ideas off someone, I’m here!

Aww…that’s really sweet of you, Stephanie! Thank you so much! There’s definitely a lot to consider and learn.

Sara: Just saw this post…..I have similar design issues. We have a condo in AZ and, as of November, it will finally be available to us for personal use and some rental activity. I’ve been agonizing over design schemes for months that will be fresh yet practical for vacation use. I like both the Dakotah and Damali rugs. Have you used these rugs in your design scheme? They are rather dark. Do you like them in the space?
