Menopause: What are good resources?
I’m wondering if I’m starting the menopause process, or at least perimenopause. It’s hard to tell! My periods are coming more frequently, and I’m feeling a fluttering in my reproductive organs. It’s the same fluttering I felt the three times I got pregnant. (Point of clarification: One pregnancy resulted in miscarriage.)
I have no idea what to expect!
Stress definitely has an impact on my cycles. And I am most certainly stressed right now! This year hasn’t been easy between COVID and the snowpocalypse and other unexpected tragedies. But stress usually makes my cycles farther apart, not closer together.

Podcast: Rules to Live by
Episode 5 of the Sow Connected podcast is out today. It’s all about the rules we live by. Here’s what Katherine and I talked about:
We start with our current Highs and Lows (i.e., the snowpocalypse and picture perfect picnic at the lake). Then we shift into Today’s Topic focused the rules that guide our lives.

- I get one short life, it’s mine to live, and I should use it to try and leave the world better than I found it.

Birthday Rituals: What we still do
It has been so fascinating to watch how our children interact with birthday rituals over the years. At 10 years old, Henry is in such a sweet spot! (Thanks to this approach to parenting, our relationship has been much, much stronger.)
A couple days before his birthday, I told him I would be hanging his birthday banner and pictures soon. He asked, “Why haven’t you done it already?” I clarified, “Are you wishing they were already up?” He then responded with an emphatic yes. It was so heart-warming.
