    So the big Family Gap Year is officially completely unraveled! I’m not quite sure why I put an exclamation mark there. Maybe because it was a lot of work to unravel it and I’m glad I was able to get it finished? (Because I am definitely not excited that the trip is dead in the water.)

    Vacationing with Kids in Michigan

    With COVID wreaking havoc in the United States (well, it’s really governmental incompetence that is wreaking havoc—right?), we had to rethink how we would normally do summer vacation. We opted for vacationing with kids in Michigan.

    On Day 1, we spent the whole day driving to Indiana. My personal opinion is that there are really only two ways to do a long road trip with kids:

    1. Drive the whole thing in one day, no matter how many hours it is.
    2. Drive 3-4 hours every morning and spend the afternoon exploring a different spot.

    Routines for Distance Learning: Getting Set Up

    The school year is already upon us! We start early down here. Monday to be exact! That’s why my brain is starting to think about routines for distance learning.

    Our school puts out this schedule for families to use as a sample as they work to plan their own days. Matt is our dedicated homeschool parent because he only does contract work right now. However, I also want to make time to support some of the school work.
