Guacamole Cook-Off Competition: One Fun Thing
We had our second “One Fun Thing” of the school year. This time, it was a Guacamole Cook-Off Competition.
I had a blind-fold ready. But, instead, we kind of set up our bowls secretly. We numbered them from 1-4. Then we each scooped a little of each option on a plate. We were careful to keep them in order.
Next, we tasted each guacamole. Honestly, we went back for seconds and thirds! (I didn’t eat lunch at all that day.) Finally, we wrote our top vote on a sticky note and folded them up.
One person read each vote in a dramatic way. It was nearly a tie between the top two. But, in the end, Magaly was the champion once again. Her secret? Super-finely and uniformly chopped ingredients. And a lot of variety! She puts the normal suspects in there, as well as a range of things like cumin.
This year’s Guacamole Cook-Off Competition was a lot of fun. We framed this print for the winner. You can download it for free if you want to have your own competition!
We got this frame from IKEA for it.
And, without further ado, here is Magaly’s famous recipe (be sure to chop everything really finely!):
- 3 avocados
- cumin: 1/2 t
- pepper: 1/2 t
- cayenne: 1/2 t
- 1 large garlic clove
- 1/2 red onion
- cilantro
- 2 roma tomatoes
- 1 lime
- 1/2 jalapeño
- Salt to taste
A good time was had by all!
